From May: When Poop Falls Out of Your Bum

So today, Emil used up the last of a roll of toilet paper and then told me he had gotten some poop on his bedsheets afterwards.

“It just fell out of my bum before I even started wiping my bum three times,” he told me, explaining why he had used so much asswipe and yet still not enough.

I was exasperated. He’s 26 and I’m still cleaning up after him? Not really; he cleaned the poop off the floor, or his long underwear I guess (as that’s what I washed, along with the bedsheet), himself. But I mean he is still getting shit anywhere but in the toilet!

After gagging vehemently at the mere thought of going into the bathroom and having to clean up shit, I asked him:

And how does poop “fall out of” your bum?

And finally figured out that he has diarrhea.

I’m happy to report that he is coughing and blowing his nose less today than he was yesterday, so is on the mend.

From May: Will this Winter ever End?

    Good morning, ladies!

You can be glad you’re in BC today, Caroline. Here, it’s snowing. Again. Damn, I shoulda got out for that walk yesterday! It was quite nice out, at least was when I walked Gord out to his vehicle as he was leaving, so I could give him a batch of bread from the deep freeze in the quonset.

Meant to walk, just didn’t get around to it. Made my Monday sourdough bread, did dishes (not all, just some; today I’ll vanquish the last of ’em, I swear), and spent an hour on the couch reading a mystery novel instead. Then threw a cauliflower-pasta casserole together for supper, and sat in front of the computer for an hour to put photos and stories on my work webpage.

    Also scanned my new earrings:

Gord brought Emil out yesterday and he is still here; he’s got a cold so I’ve let him stay rather than taking him back to the group home. He might as well be home, resting, and that’s what he’s doing. He spent yesterday in bed, and this morning got up for a shot of echinacea before going right back to it. Unfortunately I’ll have to deliver him to the group home when I go back to work myself, tomorrow; but likely he’ll be feeling better by then.

What are you two up to?
